Most of the works look pretty much finished at Deva now. The grass needs to bed in and grow but the concreting looks all finished. Here's the "skate" path....
Just wondered whether this was the project funded through the Groundwork UK & Big Lottery Fund Community Spaces programme?
It really is looking good - well done! We have set up a Community Spaces blog and it would be great to link this project in and keep getting updates from yourselves. You can find us at: http://blog.community-spaces.org.uk
We also have a Community Spaces fund Flickr group set up - it'd be great if you could share pictures of your project on there see: www.flickr.com/groups/communityspaces
I do believe the group in Poynton that fundraised this did get money from the community spaces fund. So thank you!
MSPG played a roll here mainly in lobbying for a spray concrete facility. We also imputed on the design before it went to parish committee.
I think we can agree that extensive consultation with experienced riders really does work in giving the community a valuable facility. Everyone is stoked about the park, which manages to pretty much find a balance between BMX, inline and skate use. Which in such a small facility is very difficult to achieve!
We are a collection of skaters, boarders, BMXers, inliners, MTBers and others who are committed to improving the facilities for all these sports in the Macclesfield area.
We have formed Macclesfield Skate Park Group (MSPG) to put on events, hassle the council and generally raise the profile of the sports in the area.
Have we missed one? then add your own spot to the map!!
Next meeting
We usually meet in The Porters on Mondays around8pm (every 2 or 3 weeks). Its always best to check the website, or call one of the group to see if its on.
NEXT Meeting Now on Tuesday 21st June, 8pm The Porters
